About the event
This first set of six weekly workshops will support you to create a small collection of upcycled textile pieces that could realistically sit within a gallery shop. The focus will be on simple, well-designed items - maybe a phone or glasses pouch, an oversized tote bag, a range of winter accessories made from felted wool jumpers such as hats, scarves and wrist warmers.
Using donated materials like denim, canvas and upholstery fabrics, you will learn core sewing skills and build confidence through making practical, finished pieces. There’s also time to introduce personalisation techniques like lino printing, appliqué and felting, so each item can feel individual while still sitting together as a cohesive collection.
The workshops will take place on Tuesdays from 5.30 to 8.30pm, between 19 May and 23 June, with an Articulate favourite tutor, Victoria Randlo.
